The Hi-Temp property is located at the corner of John Sisson Road and Pond View Drive in southern Little Compton, RI.. The property is wooded and contains a perennial stream. A stone wall runs along the property’s northern boundary, and several stone walls intersect the interior.
Based on the examination of historic aerial photography, it appears that the property was entirely cleared and used for agricultural purposes in 1939.
By the early 1950s, a portion of the property had been released from agricultural use, while the (presumably) drier western portion was still being maintained for agricultural purposes. This division appears to have been upheld through at least the early 1960s.
In the early 1970s and the early 1980s, the property began to revegetate naturally, eventually reaching its current successional state, predominantly wooded.
This property was donated by Hi-Temp Specialty Metals, Inc. on June 8, 2000.
