Make a Gift Through Your IRA
Federal law allows people age 70½ or older to make direct transfers up to $100,000 per year per person to charitable organizations from their Individual Retirement Account (IRA), without the withdrawal being treated as taxable income. The withdrawal can be counted toward your Required Minimum Distribution. Transfers must come from your IRA. 401(k), 403(b), and other retirement plans do not qualify.
To make your gift, contact your IRA custodian and follow their procedures to request a “Qualified Charitable Distribution”. The check must be accompanied by your name and address information for you to receive a written acknowledgment from us. Please provide the recipient information below to your custodian, along with our Tax ID# 23-7225987. Please direct your check, drawn on your IRA account and made payable to Sakonnet Preservation Association, Inc. to: Sakonnet Preservation Association, PO Box 945, Little Compton, RI 02837
If you have any questions, please contact us at jelvin@sakonnetpreservation.org or 401-635-8800.
Lees Market Receipts
Send us your receipts, or drop them at the office – we’d love to say hi! The good folks at Lees will donate 1% of your spending to Sakonnet Preservation.
Matching Gifts
Some companies, especially large corporations, match charitable gifts made by their employees. Please check with your human resources department to see if your employer has a matching gifts program. If so, request a matching gift form, enclose the completed form with your gift, and mail to Sakonnet Preservation Association, Attn. Development P.O. Box 945, Little Compton, RI 02837.
